Why Self-Discipline Is So Important For Success

Theodore Roosevelt said it best, “With self-discipline, most anything is possible.” In this article, you’ll learn why self-discipline is so important for success.

  1.  It teaches you to persevere

Perseverance is an important aspect of success because the road to achieving your dreams is full of potholes and roadblocks. You’ll need to navigate your way around them though sometimes you may lose focus and you’ll drive straight into them.

If you give up too soon, if you don’t persevere, then you’ll find it hard to succeed at anything. However, if you’ve got self-discipline, it will be easier for you to stick to your plans until you finally succeed. Of course, it will be your self-discipline that will let you create those highly actionable plans in the first place.

  1.  It teaches you to reject temptations and distractions

One of the most common reasons why people fail at life is because...

A Simple, 3-Step Formula to Extract More Hours From Your Work Day

Does it ever seem like there aren't enough hours in the day? You feel like you're busy pushing through your tasks at work, yet so much gets left undone. If only having more hours in the day was an option!

Happily, it might actually be an option, in an indirect way. It's possible that you aren't getting as much done in your day because of how you manage your time.

Follow these steps to practice effective time management and add productive hours to your day:

  1. Create a task list. A task list is necessary if you want to ensure maximum productivity. It's a great way to get a look at the big picture so you know what's ahead of you.
  • Creating your task list is somewhat like mind mapping. Just write the items down as they come to your mind. Give very little consideration to the size of the tasks at this point.
  • You might find that your task list contains tasks for you and others in your workplace.
  • Your task list helps...

4 Ways Believing In Yourself Will Help You Become Successful

belief success Dec 06, 2020

We’re all supposed to love ourselves, and everyone in their right minds would say they love themselves. But when it comes to success, many people lack the belief that they can actually succeed at anything, which is quite sad, to be honest. So, in this article, you’re going to be learning four different ways believing in yourself will help you become successful.

  1. It will be easier to succeed if you actually believe you can do it

If you want to achieve something, you’re going to have to ask yourself, “Do I really think I can do this?”

If you answered in the affirmative, then good for you. However, if you hesitated, or if you said “no” outright, then you need to change your mindset. When you doubt your abilities and your skills, you’ll find it hard to proceed with your goals. A lot of people may discourage you from going after your dreams.

Now, if you don’t believe in yourself, then you’re not going to be able to do a good...

Enthusiasm

I've been reading a book by Norman Vincent Peale called The Power of the Plus Factor - it's excellent!!  One part I read a while back talked about Enthusiasm - so today I want to share a part of that with you.

If you're anything like me - you may struggle at keeping that level of Enthusiasm on the higher end at times.  Let's be honest, there are days when you wake up and lay there, not overly excited about what you need to do that day - you lack enthusiasm.  So, what are some ways to keep your levels 'up there' - so you can tackle what the day may bring with excitement and vigour.

I'm just going to share this straight from the book - reminder, credit goes to Norman Vincent Peale - written in 1952 - hence some of the wording.  Published by Simon and Schuster

A few ways that enthusiasm may be developed and increased.

1. Employ the as-if principle; act "as if" you had enthusiasm and it will tend to develop...

Compassion

Compassion is the result of expressing empathy for others’ suffering.  It is one of the most quintessential components to living a peaceful and harmonious life and brings immediate and long-term happiness when practiced.

When there is a desire to develop compassion in your life, the key is to make it a daily practice.  Start each day with meditation, when interacting with people practice compassion and when preparing for sleep, reflect on compassion.  By incorporating this practice into our daily lives, it becomes a part of us.

Compassion also carries positive physical benefits.  Practicing compassion has shown to increase DHEA by 100%. DHEA is an anti-aging hormone.  Practicing also reduces cortisol by 23%, which is the stress hormone.

Compassion feeds spiritual and emotional being as well.  It allows us to be happier and to share our happiness with those around us.  Most of us desire peace and happiness and to share with others...

5 Suggestions for Overcoming Trouble

Uncategorized Nov 12, 2019

1) Face the problem. Often times when problems come our way, we tend to shy away from them.  Bury our heads in the sand and hope they go away.  The issue with this is, they don’t!  And, if you hide too long, you may find the problem growing.
So stand up straight.  Look the problem in the eye.  Analyze it.  Dissect it.  You may find that it’s not as “big” as you first thought.  Repeat after me: “I can handle this!!”

2) After you take a good look at the problem, take a good long look at yourself. (ouch) Very often people find themselves in trouble because the trouble is really in them.  Examine your current situation – were you a major contributing factor to the problem you are facing?

3) Take Action! After we’ve decided to face the problem instead of hiding from it, and we’ve examined and determined the origins of this problem, take some action to overcoming it.  “Action...
